Weeknote 35
Contains ZERO work as I’ve had a week off. Well, we’ve had a week off together. Long overdue.
Probably not as much sitting around relaxing (outside) as had been planned, but the weather didn’t entirely cooperate on that front.
ADHD brain is bad at the moment and I’m not sleeping well at all. Plus migraines are coming back. It’s been difficult this week. I feel like the walking dead.
It also means that I’m struggling to read which is disappointing because I keep staring at The Ministry of Time and WANTING to read it. I just...can’t.
Accomplishments:
- a couple days of doing just about nothing
- took my mom out
- started prepping for Costa Rica and buying new hiking sandals and clothes
- finally sorted the correct contact lens prescription. I have an astigmatism in my right eye that then disappeared and has now reappeared. Back on the original plan of a normal lens, a toric lens and then reading glasses for up close.
- thought about big abroad holidays for the next 2 years (SE Asia next year and Japan in 2026). Next step is shorter breaks. The downside of having a dog is really having to plan ahead.
- went for a lovely (windy) walk up at Keeper’s with the dog, my FiL and his 2 dachshunds. Gorgeous views, heather in fine form)
- visited the Three Castles (Skenfrith, Grosmont and Whitecastle), which are all on our doorstep. Nice to get out locally and do things we’ve driven past a million times.
- drove up to Machynlleth without the dog for an overnight
- ate at Gwen, which was heavenly
- drove home through gorgeous Ceredigion and the Elan Valley. Very much want to go back and spend more time in that area. Wales is stupidly beautiful.
- dinner at Newport Market for Dai’s birthday tonight
I’m off until Tuesday so will only have a short 3 day week but about 2 weeks worth of work to shove into that time. And then straight back to prepping for being off for the long trip.
And I’ve still got 5 days of leave I need to use this year so planning another trip a month after coming back from Costa Rica. Almost certainly to Northumberland, our 2nd favourite place after Wales.
